Postcards from Providence
Fall 2022

Building off of collections from the Providence Public Library and other regional institutions, Postcards from Providence is an informal and accessible archive of historic postcards—in both physical and digital formats.

On the website, postcards are cataloged and color-coded by neighborhood. The design—informed by perforation marks—is colorful and simple, making the catalog and historic content material feel more approachable.

Complimenting the website are a series of printed flyers designed to be posted on-site throughout the city, with each flyer pertaining to a specific postcard. Two copies of each postcard tear-off along perforations from the flyers, encouraging written communication while simultaneously redirecting the viewer to the online archive.
